Pocket Doors and Joy
Now that we've married off my sister and everything is back to normal....
{yes it WAS a fabulous wedding, thank you for asking.}
{and yes we DO love her new husband.}
{and yes we ARE exhausted after the joyous events of this past weekend...}
... it's time for HOUSE PROGRESS!
Well, after this:
and this:
NOW we're ready to talk logs again.
This is the front wall of the master bedroom on the second floor (not a loft) from inside the room:
And this is the same wall from outside the room. Plus, a little sunbeam action for you, too:
Bob is staining the pocket doors that will go in the wall.... slowly but surely. I can't wait to wake up and slide open those doors, ready to greet the morning.
Hopefully I won't be blinded by that crazy sunbeam! Yikes!

More Walls
Because I am hermit-like and want doors behind which to retreat from the madding crowd and am obstinate enough to insist on it, our second floor (not loft) bedroom will have walls and a door. Call me crazy, but the idea of having my bedroom open to the world (even if you can't see in from the first floor) doesn't appeal to me. So, Intrepid Husband is crafting the front wall of our bedroom. Ain't he a nice one?
So, since we're going to have this nice wide balcony overlooking the living room and looking out over the lake and such, I need some ideas on what to do with it. Line it with bookshelves? A big mirror that reflects the windows across from it? Squashy armchair and reading light? Desk and work center? Murphy beds for when the cousins descend on us?
Help! I need a general idea so that while it's being built, nifty features can be accommodated!
Thanks!

End of Season Garden Bounty
We spent Sunday evening eating s'mores and rambling through my father's garden. Even this late in the season, it is still disgorging insane amounts of green beans and jalepenos and cabbages and carrots.
Oh, and pumpkins!
I made soup.
Oh, and pumpkins!
So, since we departed with contented souls and laden arms.....
I made soup.
